Les Mini de Chanel: Holiday 2015 travel brushes set

Les Mini de Chanel

How I came to own this travel brush set is amusing, as I actually bought it on my return journey after I spent a month abroad. I did not get to enjoy the Les Mini de Chanel Travel Brush Set while travelling, but as soon as I saw it on that airport shop I knew that it was a pretty nice set to add to my collection and that it would be really useful in the future.

The first thing that I noticed was that some of the brushes had shapes that one does not see that often in travel sets and that they would nicely complement my Laura Mercier Travel set. I also noticed that these brushes are really small, even for travel brushes, and that they have really soft bristles.

The set has five brushes, of which two are face brushes and three are eye brushes. It came in a a round mesh black toiletries bag which also contained a round mirror (both not pictured here).

MAC Faerie Whispers: Spelldazzling, Cheek Pollen and A Sprinkle of Magic

MAC Faerie Whispers haul

In my recent visit to the local MAC store I simply could not resist the beautiful Faerie Whispers collection, so here I am sharing my thoughts and some images of some of the products that I picked up.

The MAC Faerie Whispers collection had quite a few products in it, featuring many neutral shades and shimmery formulas. All in all, very flattering although perhaps quite dupable as well.

I don’t usually pay much attention to the nail polishes by MAC, but could you have resisted this one? (If you did, then you are stronger than me!).

Chanel Rouge Noir Holiday 2015 collection

I really loved the theme of the Chanel Holiday 2015 Rouge Noir collection: sparkly, gold and vampy. It was a slight twist on the usual red and gold theme that comes back every Christmas, and I couldn’t be more happy to have been able to browse it.

I was so tempted that I bought a few items, which are pictured above: the three nail polishes and the pencil liner. I was also very tempted by the cream eyeshadow and the lipsticks, but in the end I tried to be a good girl and not pillage the shop like a viking looking for bounty!

Kiko Cosmetics Best Friends Forever collection

Kiko Milano has launched a cute as a button limited edition called Best Friends Forever just in time for Valentine’s Day.

As you could expect, this collection has plenty of reds and pinks and hearts to satisfy any cravings for them that you may have had.

The collection has quite a few items, including pencils, lipliners, face powders and mascara, which I did not pick. But let me tell you my opinion on the items that I did pick.

True Love Nail Lacquer in 03 Red Kiss: this nailpolish reminded me of the matt sugar ones that I enjoyed so much. It dries onto a matte sand texture but it has pink shimmer that reflects light.

Review of the Orofluido range

Orofluido beauty elixir
Orofluido beauty elixir

Today I am reviewing the Orofluido original range of products, which encompasses the shampoo, the conditioner, the mask and the oil.

I had been loving using oils for a while before the Orofluido one entered my radar. I had been using drugstore ones or pure argan oil (too rich, let me tell you now) before, so I felt like giving it a try.

Sucker that I am, I fell for a mask and oil set and bought as well the shampoo and conditioner in XXL size. Why not, right?

Perhaps my mistake was giving it a sniff at the store. I love the scent of the range. To me it smells like oriental decadence, like vanilla and amber and spices and it makes me travel to a pampering session in a hammam. If I light up a Dyptique Amber candle before stepping into the shower, by the time I step out I am in olfactory heaven. Marvelous! However, my hair would not say the same.

Turns out that while I fell in love with the Orofluido Beauty Elixir, I didn’t feel anything special towards the Orofluido Conditioner and Orofluido Mask and I loathed the Orofluido Shampoo.

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour: Dance with me and Recollection

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour in Dance with me and Recollection

When it was announced that MAC would be getting onto the liquid lipstick trend that has been going strong now for a while, I was really excited. The Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours promised to be some fun products to play with.

So, when they were launched I descended on my local store looking for a couple pretties to get back home. They launched 15 shades that go from nude to bold, but I grabbed a classic red and a bold purple; they are permanent afterall!

I really like the packaging; it has a classical looking cap, but a clear bottom in order to see the shade you are reaching for. The applicator is also nice, a felt tip that is soft and firm and it comes to a point which is really handy in order to get a clean application.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost

The Body Shop VitC Skin Boost
The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost

I have several The Body Shop items in my regular skincare routine that I love, like the Bouncy Sleeping Mask, so I am always on the hunt for the next product from their range to find a new home chez moi.

Perusing the shop, I found a promising vitamin C serum that I thought could be a nice addition to my skincare wardrobe. However, as soon as I tried my newly purchased The Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost, I knew that this one would be not like the others.

Kiko Color-Up Long Lasting Eyeshadows collection

Color-Up Eyeshadows
Kiko Color-Up Long Lasting Eyeshadows in 20 and 29

As I have said before, one of my favourite products by Kiko is their eyeshadow sticks. They have a great selection of shades in their permanent range, but they also like to launch new shades in their limited edition collections. Let me introduce you to the new two members of our family.

As you can imagine, I was ever so happy when they launched the Daring Game collection and it included some new goodies, named the Color-Up Long Lasting Eyeshadows.

I picked a few shades and continued to drool over the other ones. They say that patience is rewarded, and they might be right as I kept waiting for the collection to hit the discounted zone as new ones were launched. And yeah, I already took advantage of this as I showed you in this post here. But when I saw the prices go even lower, I could not resist them and I picked up these two beauties.

Color-Up 20 29

This collection had a casino theme and many of the Color-Up Long Lasting Eyeshadows were in shades reminiscent of gems, and these two are exactly that.

Hello from the other side

Life is what happens when you’re making other plans

Hi to those who are still hanging in there, and thank you from this side of the screen for your patience.

The quote above could not be more appropriate if I tried! Since last summer my life has changed a bit, including a brief moment when I had two jobs and I studied as well. Yeah, that is the big change in my life: I went back to uni! Perhaps it was due to the fact that celebrating my 30th anniversary felt odd (me? 30? are you sure?!), but I decided to finally tackle on those translation studies that I had been dreaming of. So yeah, in a few years I will officially be a translator. How cool is that?

Bye byes: a liquid eye shadow and a pencil eye shadow

Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeshadow Paint and Nyx Jumbo pencils

Because I think that posts that review favourites are as useful for a blog’s readers as posts showcasing products that didn’t perform as expected, let me introduce you to my new Bye byes post featuring the Nyx Jumbo pencils and Rimmel Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Paint.

If you follow me on Instagram you might have seen me feature the Nyx Jumbo pencils a few weeks ago on this photograph. I must confess that a couple years ago I bought into the Jumbo pencils hype and ordered a few of them in basic colours. I was very excited when I got them as I intended to use them as eye shadow bases and they had the reputation of being excellent for this purpose.
